RV Camping Preparation :: Coleman Mobile Home Furnace Coleman Mobile Home Furnace:Weatherproof Your Mobile Home with a Coleman Furnace
Custom Search
Coleman mobile home furnace models are made to heat mobile homes in a safe, energy efficient manner. In cold climates it is important to make sure you have a quality furnace to keep your mobile home warm. When cold weather settles in for the winter months, a mobile home can be incredibly vulnerable to the cold. There are several ways to winterize your home, from weather stripping and sealing windows to space heaters and gas furnaces, like a Coleman mobile home furnace. Of course the quickest way to winterize any home is to break out the weather stripping and caulking gun. With these two simple tools you can seal up any leaks in your windows, doors and around your home. Weather Stripping Weather stripping doesn't just keep cold air and rain water out of your house, it stops the heat from getting out. Just check around the frames of your doors and windows for leaks on a windy or rainy day and seal the leaks. Another way to stop cold air from getting in and warm air from escaping out your windows is to insulate your mobile home's windows with plastic. Get some heavy duty plastic sheeting from a hardware store and just tape it down with duct tape. It's cheap and easy. Caulking Caulk is a good way to seal all kinds of leaks in your home. It is another easy and affordable way to keep the heat in your motor home. It won't replace a Coleman mobile home furnace, but it will provide additional protection against the cold. Look around the body of your mobile home for leaks near the gutter, plumbing pipes, furnace vents and around the seams between your roof and mobile home siding and your window and door frames. Anywhere there's a pipe or vent there could be a leak, so look carefully. Insulation Three main areas you want to try to insulate on your mobile home are the water heater, water pipes and underneath the home. You can also try adding insulation to the roof of the house, but that can be a big project. To insulate your water heater, buy an insulating blanket. There is heat tape available at hardware stores to prevent your pipes from freezing. Make sure you read the instructions on using heat tape carefully. To insulate under your mobile home, make sure the blocks that support your home are in good condition. Make sure your home's skirting is secure. For additional insulation you can always put something like foam or even bales of hay to keep the wind out. Gas Furnaces Space heaters are always a good option for a small space like a mobile home, but really the best defense against the cold is a gas furnace, like a Coleman mobile home furnace. Furnaces should always be installed by someone who has good knowledge of mobile homes, and should be inspected at least once a year. Remember to keep flammable materials, like, carpeting, away from a gas furnace. Keep fresh batteries your smoke detectors and always have a fire extinguisher nearby. Any gas furnace, even a good quality Coleman mobile home furnace, can be dangerous in a small space. See also: All Articles for RV and Camping Preparation
