RV Camping Preparation :: RV Generators RV Generators:A Review of the Honda EU2000i RV Portable Generators
Custom Search
RV generators need to be powerful, quiet and efficient. And if your RV, towable or motorhome doesn’t come equipped with a generator, you’ll need to find the right portable generator that’s designed for the RV and camper van market. The Honda EU 2000i is the latest in a long line of portable RV generators for Honda and it was designed specifically for the camper van and towable market. To learn more about the EU 2000i’s pros and cons, keep reading. Power of the Honda EU 2000i Generator The EU 2000i cranks out 2,000-watts (2KW) and features what’s called inverter technology. This means that raw power is passed from the generator through a microprocessor which produces clean power – meaning it’s equal to the power from your home’s AC current. That means you can run devices that are sensitive to power fluctuations, like laptops. The 2000-watt rating of the Honda EU 2000i RV generators means you can run almost anything on the unit, including a microwave, television or coffee maker (though maybe not all at once). Unforunately, the Honda EU 2000i isn’t capable of handling a roof air unit. However, you can couple two of the units together with a Parallel Cable Kit ($260) for enough power. The solution is not only cheaper than a single, larger generator, it’s also lighter and more efficient. Noise Levels of the Honda EU 2000i RV Generator The EU 2000i RV Generators are part of Honda’s “Super Quiet” line of generators and they live up to their word. The unit runs at between 53-59 decibels, the same noise level as human speech. The unit also has Eco Throttle – this feature will only run the engine at the capacity needed to handle the current load – so a minimum amount of power draw means a minimum amount of noise. Eco Throttle also means lower fuel consumption. In Eco-Throttle mode, the Honda EU 2000i RV generators can run for close to 15 hours on a 1.1-gallon tank. Weight and Size The Honda EU 2000i weighs in at a heft, buy manageable 50 pounds with a full tank of gas. It’s also significantly smaller than a larger generator. For example, it’s much easier to lift, pack and store two smaller, 50-pound generators (if you want to run the air conditioning) than it is to lift and find a place for a much larger 120-140 pound generator. The Honda EU 2000i generators couldn’t be carried over your shoulder, but they’re light enough and small enough to be truly portable – meaning you can also use them around the house or cottage The Final Word Overall, the EU 2000i RV generators are lightweight, efficient and quiet – a perfect combination to give you all the creature comforts of home on your next camper journey.
